Falling Kingdoms – Solid Series Starter

Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1)

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It took me a hot second to really think about how I felt about this book. I really enjoyed it and I’m going straight into book 2, but when I try to think about what I really liked, I can’t seem to be able to put it into words. I’m giving this book a solid 3.5 stars, because I did really enjoy it, and the plot and characters are pretty interesting and the rest of the series will probably give more insight into the history and characters.

I think that the reason its so hard for me to do a review on this is because it felt like this book was more setting up the plot, characters and world for the future books, considering that there are now 6 books in the series.

Another reason is because the characters all felt really morally gray to me, which I love in a book, but they were all that way, which made it hard for me to identify with any of them or really get attached to them.

I can see where the comparison between this series and GoT comes from, both authors have no problem with killing off characters that you like, but I don’t really think that you can say that its a YA version of GoT because nothing can ever come close to the amazingness that is GoT.

I don’t really feel like I have much to say about the plot and characters, other than I am very interested to see where this goes, and I’ve heard from a lot of people that the series just gets better as you go so I still have really high hopes!
