The ABC Book Challenge |A|

I saw this post over at A Book. A Thought. and it looked like such a fun idea! I really wanted to do a fun weekly post, and I think that this one could be one that I can sustain for a while, and even repeat eventually!

Basically what you do for this challenge is talk about a book that was memorable and one that is still on your TBR that starts with the corresponding letter! Since this is the first time I’m doing this challenge, I’ll be starting with the letter A.

Memorable books that start with “A”

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – I just recently mentioned in this post that Victoria Schwab is one of my favorite authors, and this was the book that put her on that list! I absolutely love all of the characters, and the way that Victoria writes her villains is just so refreshing and I love how she makes it surprisingly hard for you to hate them. (Looking at you, Holland)

And I Darken by Kiersten White – I still have to continue on with this series, but I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of this series. This is a gender-bent retelling of Vlad the Impaler, and I loved how intense and deadly Lada became throughout this book. I can only imagine how much deadlier she gets with the rest of the series!

Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb – While it’s not my favorite of this series, I still really enjoyed this book! This book seems to be a lot slower than the next book in the series (I’m only 50 pages in so far) but I think I can safely say that it is slower because Fitz is only a child so there really isn’t a ton of action.

Books starting with an “A” on my TBR

A Gathering of Ravens by Scott Oden – I picked this one up on a whim because it seems like it will have vikings/celtic/norse mythology in it, and I’ve been really loving books with that element lately!

The Alienist by Caleb Carr – alright, so I’m cheating a bit with this because it starts with “the”, but it was really hard to find titles that started with “A”, alright? That said, I picked this book up because I wanted to read it before I watched the TV show and the premise sounded interesting!

Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers – This one I bought because it has assassin in the title, and that is usually enough to get me interested. I have no idea what this book is actually about though!

I’ll see you next week where I talk about books starting with “B”!

Have you heard of or read any of the books I mentioned? Let me know in the comments!
