Book Reviews and Recommendations
It’s time for my second TBR Lows & Highs post! You can find my first lows & highs here if you are interested in checking out my last attempt at this blog meme created by Destiny over at Howling Libraries! I’ll be doing this every other week instead of weekly, since I don’t always add a ton of books to my TBR on Goodreads.
Rules:
Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine – This is one that I put on my TBR back when I first really started using goodreads before I started blogging, and at this point I’ve got so many other books I’m interested in I’m probably never going to get to this one.
I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes – Another one I added on to my TBR early on, I feel like this thriller is going to be so similar to others that I’ve read that I’m just not interested anymore.
The Other Queen by Phillipa Gregory – Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres although I don’t read a lot of it very often, but I’ve attempted to read other books by Phillipa Gregory and they were so dry and dull!
The Boleyn Inheritance by Phillipa Gregory – Like the book before, Phillipa’s writing is too dry for me and I’m just not into it anymore.
The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan – This is the third book in the Wheel of Time series and I haven’t even read the first book yet! So it’s coming off my TBR until I at least read book 1.
Terrier by Tamora Pierce – The Wild Magic quartet was one of my favorite series growing up but I’ve never read any of Tamora’s other works! So I figured I should start off with this series because it is set a long time before the Wild Magic series.
Luck in the Shadows by Lynn Flewelling – I saw someone mention this somewhere (I forget who) but it sounded interesting. It’s an LGBT+ fantasy about a man who is taken as an apprentice to a thief and they get sucked into an evil plot that they probably have to stop.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon – Dragons. A Queendom without it’s heir. Ancient evil. Dragonriders. This is everything I’ve ever wanted in a fantasy book and I am SO EXCITED.
The Tiger’s Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera – Another LGBT+ fantasy but this time it’s mongolian inspired! This has two strong female characters who are the only hope for their people and one of the few fantasy novels with a lesbian romance!
Arcanum Unbounded by Brandon Sanderson – I just needed more Sanderson in my life, okay? I love his writing and his worlds that he creates, so buying this novella bind up was a no brainer.
And there we have it! My second TBR Lows & Highs is officially done. Do any of these sound interesting to you? I’d love to chat about them in the comments!
Such a good idea for a post! I have a few Phillipa Gregory books on my bookshelf that I haven’t gotten around to – I’m hoping I’ll enjoy them since I love historical fiction but will have to see 😂 I was a huge Rachel Caine fan but only ever read her Morganville Vampire series so I’ll have to check out Ink and Bone!

I had high hopes for Phillipa’s work, but I just don’t think it’s for me. Maybe I’ll try something later on! And I didn’t realize that Rachel Caine had another series! Maybe I’ll give it a shot!

I could never take titles OFF of my TBR. They’re all my lovelies! I want to give each book a chance. I love looking at these posts though

I know right? Most of the ones I’m taking off are ones I put on my goodreads shelf that I haven’t bought, and of course if I decide to read them later I can always put them back on the list!

Me too! I’m so sad it doesn’t release until February though.

Me too! I just keep telling myself I’ve gotta make sure I’m ahead of schedule on ARCs when it releases so I can dive right into it. 🙂

Ink and Bone has been on my TBR for the longest time as well. It still sounds interesting, but also very, very similar to The Invisible Library series (which I haven’t read either) and I feel like I should pick one of them to read instead of both? I’m not sure. Maybe they aren’t that similar once you read them, but I keep mixing them up.
The Tiger’s Daughter sounds awesome, thanks for the rec!

You’re welcome! I also have The Invisible Library on my TBR and I agree they sound similar.
