Book Reviews and Recommendations

Another day, another tag! Today I’ll be doing the A – Z Bookish Survey that I saw on a couple different blogs, mainly Struggling Book Addict and History Chatter. I admit, I’m running low on ideas for Blogtober which is why there are two tags in a row. I do have some other non tag posts planned for the rest of the month, but I’m still struggling to come up with some ideas! I’m going to be doing this tag rapid fire, so there won’t be too much explanation for my choices!
I think It’s probably Sarah J Maas, or maybe Diana Gabaldon. *Goes and counts books* Maas pulls ahead with 10 and Gabaldon at 9. And of course Kingdom of Ash is coming out VERY SOON so Maas will be ahead 2!
What kind of a question is this for a book lover? It’s like asking what your one favorite book is! But for recent best sequel, I’m going to go with Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames! I have a full review on this book if you want to go and read about how much I loved this book!
Right now I’m reading The Lost Queen by Signe Pike and I’m really enjoying it so far! It’s mainly historical fiction, but it does have some fantastical elements to it.
I don’t normally drink when I read, mainly because I get too engrossed in the book that I forget I have a drink with me! But I do enjoy a good cup of tea every now and then when reading.
Definitely physical books. I love being able to see my bookmark in the book and know how much I have left, plus the feeling of a book in your hand is a great feeling! E-readers also can’t have sprayed pages or deckled edges, nor can they have pretty covers!
I never had the best luck with guys, mainly because I was picking all the wrong ones who were….not the greatest of people, to put it nicely. It would probably be someone like Ronan from The Raven Boys, at least in book one since I don’t know if he gets any nicer in the later books.
I’m so happy I gave To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before a chance! It’s outside my usual genre, but it was so much fun and was really cute!
Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames and the sequel, Bloody Rose! These are two highly underrated fantasy novels, and if there is one thing that you take away from my blog, it’s hopefully the fact that you need to read these books!
Honestly it’s starting this blog! I’ve met so many wonderful people and I’ve been able to spread my love of books to others. The one thing that really hit me the most with this blog is that I actually have an impact on what books others read, which can be a little scary at times.
The most recent book I finished was Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake! I can’t wait to see where this series goes, but I’m a little nervous for my favorite queen!
I’ts not that I won’t ever read them, but I just don’t tend to read a lot of non-fiction, chick-lit, romance, or anything else that falls along those lines. Every now and then I will read one though, but don’t hold your breath!
Definitely Game of Thrones! I can’t remember which book specifically is the longest, but I’ve read the entire series (what’s published, anyway) multiple times so does it really matter?
I can’t say that I’ve ever gotten a book hangover yet! I just can never settle on one specific book from start to finish.
Three full sized shelves and one half shelf! Plus a bunch on the floor that I want to donate or get rid of.
I already mentioned Game of Thrones, but I’ve also read Outlander and Throne of Glass multiple times are well!
My couch, or if it’s nice out, my lounge chair!
I don’t usually remember a ton of quotes, but I really love these two:
“Books are a uniquely portable magic’ – George R.R. Martin
“You could rattle the stars. You could do anything, if only you dared” – Sarah J Maas
That I buy so many books I will never have the time to finish them all!
Pretty much all the popular series: The Raven Boys, the Grisha Trilogy, The Kiss of Deception, Lord of the Rings, The Farseer Trilogy, and so many more!
What did I say about asking a book lover what their favorite book is? It’s always changing, but right now I would say Bloody Rose, Throne of Glass, and One Dark Throne!
Sarah J Maas, definitely! But I’m not one of those that say her books are the end-all-be-all, I recognize that they aren’t for everyone and there are some problems within both series.
Not to sound like a broken record, but Kingdom of Ash! We are SO CLOSE to release date, which is actually the day after this blog post is going live! I’m also really excited for Fire and Blood by George R.R. Martin, because even though it isn’t Winds of Winter, it’s still a book set in Westeros!
Not finishing books! I always start one, get part of the way through and really enjoy it, but then I look over at my shelves and decide that I want to start another one!
I’m actually rearranging my shelves right now, but currently the 27th book is The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon! It’s the third book in The Bone Season series which I haven’t started yet.
Uhhh…I actually just came back to finish this post after placing a Book Outlet order, so I have quite a few books coming to me!
I honestly don’t know, mainly because I go to sleep fairly early and if a book keeps me up late it isn’t really all that late. But I think it was probably Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake.
And there we have my rapid fire take on the A-Z bookish survey! Do we have any of the same answers? What would some of your answers be? Lets chat in the comments!
