Book Reviews and Recommendations
It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another entry into the ABC Book Challenge! It’s the fourth week, which means this week the letter is D. If you aren’t up-to-date on what this challenge is, what you do is name at least one book that is on your TBR that starts with D and at least one book that starts with D that is a memorable book you’ve read. There are a lot of fantastic books this week, so make sure you check them out if you’re interested in them!
The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima – This was a great first book in this epic fantasy series. The world is unique, the characters are interesting, and I really can’t wait to see where their story goes! Plus a Queendom is something that’s always on my list of books to look out for.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – It must be Schwab Season or something, because she keeps popping up on all of my recent lists! This is such a great series and if you love anything about fantasy you should read this!
Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon – Outlander is one of my favorite series that I don’t often get to talk about, but it’s definitely in my top 5 series ever! There’s just something about Jamie and Claire that are so special and I love following their journey together.
A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin – Of course a Game of Thrones book would be mentioned at some point on this list! This is another one of my favorite series and this is the last book that is currently published. I’m still waiting for Winds of Winter, but the new Fire and Blood history of the Targaryens will have to tide me over.
Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire – I originally told myself I had no intention of reading this series, but I am so glad that I did! I think it was so well done for a novella and had so much depth and development!
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier – I’ve been wanting to read something from this author and this one had a ton of great reviews. It’s got Irish inspiration and it’s a retelling of the Celtic “Swans” myth, and reviews say that it’s pretty dark which is perfect for me!
Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey – I feel like everyone has probably already read this series since it came out so long ago, but I never got the chance and I love dragons so it just seemed like my kind of book, plus it’s pretty short which is a rarity in the fantasy world.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – I really want to read this series before reading Strange the Dreamer, but I’m a little scared because of all the hype her books get. But it sounds so interesting and is probably something I’ll enjoy.
The Diviners by Libba Bray – I’ve heard that this book has everything! A diverse cast of characters, mysteries, paranormal aspects, and historical settings. So basically, this series was written for me. Now to just find the time to read it!
A Dance of Cloaks by David Dalglish – Do I get 3 points for this one because the authors first and last name also start with D? I don’t know much about this series, but I do know it has assassins which is pretty much all I really need to know.
What books do you have that you love or want to read that start with D? Do you want to read anything that I mentioned? I’d love to know!
