Book Reviews and Recommendations
Posted on December 31, 2018 by Katie @ Melting Pages
25! That’s right everyone, I’m officially 25 today! Car insurance gets cheaper, I start to feel panicky that I’m not being a good enough adult, and so on and so forth. But all that aside, I found this book tag through the wonders of Google, and decided that it would be a great tag to do for my birthday!
Honestly the first one that comes to mind is Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep, mainly because it is the one and only book I finished in December. You can thank my new puppy for that. I do have a review up for this, and it’s definitely full of clichés and tropes, but it was just so much fun to read so I didn’t mind!
So since 2018 is basically over, I’ll say what my most anticipated release for 2019, which would probably be Priory of the Orange Tree or Wicked Saints. Of course, there are a TON of books I’m super excited for, and I’m hoping that I will have the time to write up a post with all of my anticipated releases!
Another book I read recently that I didn’t think I would like as much as I did was Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I was afraid her writing would be too flowery for me, but it was honestly perfect! I have a full review up for this book as well!
Unpopular (or popular, depending on what side of the argument you are on) I LOVED Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas!! It was the perfect ending for this series and I think all the hype around it was 100% deserved. Another book I thought deserved the hype was The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, which I read and loved earlier this year.
This is a tough one for me because I don’t really remember quotes unless I see them all over the internet, but I’m sure that I have read some books recently with great quotes but I just don’t remember them!
The first book that I think of when I read this question was The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak. I read it when I was pretty young, so I feel like a lot of the nuances went right over my head, to the point where I didn’t even remember that it was death narrating the story! I really want to reread it at some point because I think I would love it a lot more now!
I can’t really think of one book in particular that I would turn to, since for the most part my life has (thankfully) been a pretty good one so far. Usually when I’m feeling sad, I like to turn to fantasy books that have a reputation for being sarcastic and have a dry humor like mine, and they always cheer me up!
Thank you all for all your love and support for this blog, I honestly wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you! I hope you all have a happy new year! See you all in 2019!
