Book Reviews and Recommendations
I’m a part of the Write Reads group (@thewritereads) on twitter, and through the blog of the day I stumbled across a post from Thereadingcloset where they discussed the top 5 places that would be on their bucket list if they could travel to them. I’ve made plenty of posts about my favorite books, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually written a post about the worlds that I would want to live in if I could. So today, thanks to thereadingcloset inspiring me, I’m going to be talking about the 5 worlds that I would most want to visit!
Lets get the obvious one out of the way, shall we? If you’ve been here before or follow my twitter or instagram, then you know that I am total trash for Sarah J Maas and her worlds. Anything with magic and that medieval feel is going to make me swoon, but there is just something grand about this world that makes me want to go and explore. I want to see the mountains of Terrasen, feel the hot sands of Eyllwe, and sail across the sea to Wendlyn. I want to see the Library of Orynth and the catacombs of the Adarlan castle. The amount of thought and passion that went into making this world feel real just makes it all the more interesting to me!
While I would never want to be a queen on this island (too much danger and death!) I would however, want to visit the island! I would mainly want to see the naturalist city of Wolf Spring! I’ve always been drawn to the idea of having an animal that can sense your thoughts and you theirs, but to experience that and see it would be amazing! Of course, getting to the island may be an issue….
While this world is present in all of Tamora Pierces works, I experienced it first with her Immortals Quartet, starting with Wild Magic. This was one of the first worlds that I experienced as a kid that really made me fall in love with the fantasy genre, and seeing all the places that these characters went and visiting the grand castles and beautiful glens would be such a treat! Throw in a bonus trip to the realm of the immortals and this would be the trip of a lifetime!
There was no way that I could mention worlds I would want to visit without mentioning Middle Earth! The movies are my favorite movies OF ALL TIME, and already make me feel like I’ve seen the world, but I want more. I want to be there, breathe the air and feel the grass. The good thing is in this case, you could actually visit the Shire in real life in New Zealand! You better believe that going there is on my bucket list for sure!
I just recently read this book and OH MY GOSH is this world so fascinating! There is a magic system called scriving which is where you can convince an object to do something that is not in it’s reality. For example, you can convince a lock that it is unbreakable and that only ONE specific key can open it, and then no one can ever break that lock apart. Or you could convince a sword that it’s much heavier than it really is and that it’s gravity is in a different direction so when it is swung it can cut through anything. It would be so interesting to go and learn about this scientific type of magic and everyone needs to read this book!
What are some worlds that you would want to visit? What are some that you love, but would maybe want to stay away from? *cough cough GAME OF THRONES cough cough* Let’s chat!
Yes, Middle Earth! I follow the Instagram account of Hobbiton that is full of beautiful photos! I definitely want to visit Sylver, the world of The Twistrose Key.

A bit cliché, but Harry Potter’s world was my first thought when I read your list.

I would’ve put that on here but I feel like everyone says it so I wanted to show off some other worlds! But it’s definitely there just for the magic system!

Middle Earth would be AMAZING to visit! Going to the Hobbiton set in New Zealand is definitely on my bucket list too 😀 And Fennbirn would be a really cool place to visit as well, even if I would be scared of somehow getting caught up in the whole queen conflict! 😅

I know, right? Most of my favorite worlds are places where I would never want to be a main character because of all the death 😂

I can see that there is absolutely zero originality in me loving Middle Earth and visiting New Zealand and Hobbiton being on my bucket list…. but I don’t care! 😀

Haha it’s like Harry Potter being on a list like this, but Middle Earth is hands down my favorite world ever!
