Reading Habits Book Tag

Hey everyone! I haven’t done any tags in a while, and since I have a few posts that are taking a while for me to finish I decided it’s the perfect time for another tag! This one was created by TheBookJazz and I saw it over at Dreamland Book Blog. Basically what this tag is is just answering questions about your reading habits!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I have a very small apartment, so I don’t have a ton of space to spread out. Since it’s winter I usually read in my living room on my couch with some booktube videos in the background, and in the summer I like to sit outside on my patio!

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

In the past (pre book blog days) I would use anything I could find. Since starting my blog and following other bloggers/booktubers/bookstagrammers, I have discovered the wonderful world of handmade bookmarks! There are so many etsy shops that I enjoy getting my bookmarks from, but sometimes shipping can be a pain so I try not to use too many at once.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

Generally speaking, I just stop wherever. If I’m reading before bed though I like to stop at the end of a chapter or at a break in the story. Normally in one sitting I read 100+ pages (give or take) so I don’t really care about how many pages I read before stopping.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

All the time! It’s just me and my pup so I don’t have anyone I need to talk to at dinner, so I usually read or respond to comments on social media!

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I have done both music and TV, but I find it easier to concentrate on the book if it’s a movie or show that I’ve seen plenty of times like a Disney movie, because then I don’t need to focus on the TV but I still have background noise. And like I mentioned above, I also listen/watch booktube videos while reading!

One book at a time or several at once?

Both? I like to read one book from start to finish, but sometimes I see another book on my shelf that is just calling my name so I put down the book I’m reading to pick up the other book, then see another book that is calling my name so I put that book down….it’s a vicious cycle that I just can’t seem to break! But generally speaking only one at a time, I don’t flip flop between books. Usually.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Mainly at home. I don’t have a long commute so I don’t really have a lot of time to get an audiobook in, and to be completely honest, I don’t really go very many places. When it gets warmer out my family likes to go kayaking and camping, so I’ll of course take a stack of books to go camping to read!

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

DEFINITELY in my head! I actually find it really distracting to read out loud.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Nope! I usually manage around a book a week which compared to some bloggers is really slow, especially when they are 400-500+ page books, but I like to really read and digest what is going on. If I were to skip a page I would probably feel so lost!

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Honestly it depends on the book. If it’s nice and floppy and I don’t have any issues reading the text closer to the middle, I try to keep it new. But if a book is bound so tightly that I can’t read the words, I have to bend it a little to really read it. But I try my best to keep my books in really good condition.

Do you write in your books?

I have not, but I really want to annotate and mark up my copies of the Throne of Glass series! I do unhaul books, so I would be too afraid that I would want to get rid of that book and no one would want it with writing in them! So I’ll only be doing it with books that I know I probably won’t be getting rid of any time soon.

For the first time, I’m actually going to be tagging people to do this tag! So if you are tagged, I would love to see your answers!

Critiques of a Fangirl (something easy for you while you’re on semi-hiatus!)

Purple Manatees

Rain from Bookdragonism

Mandy from Devouring Books

Margaret from Weird Zeal

There we have it! Another completed book tag! Hopefully the longer blog posts won’t take me too much longer to do and then I’ll be back on track. What would your answers to this tag be?

Until next time!
