September 2019 TBR

Okay, I know that we’ve already had two full weeks of September already, but in my defense I took the first week off from posting blogs so I could work on writing and scheduling and reading and planning some posts for October! I really want to get in the mood for fall, so a lot of the books I plan on reading in September will hopefully help with that!

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott LynchI’ve been reading this one already and at the time I’m writing this I’m right around 200 pages into this one now and I’m really loving it so far! It’s everything that I wanted out of all the other heist stories that I’ve ever read before. The banter between everyone is just A++. I have no idea where this story is heading and every time I think the gang is in trouble, the way they weasel themselves out is a ton of fun to read about!

Teeth in the Mist by Dawn Kurtagich

Teeth in the Mist by Dawn KurtagichA while ago I asked for some recommendations for creepy/eerie fall reads, and this was one of the books that was recommended to me! I’ve seen this book before because it’s a fairly new release, so when I started to read the synopsis I was immediately intrigued enough to pick it up and add it to my TBR! I purposely skimmed the synopsis because I didn’t want to be spoiled for anything that happens, but what I do know is it’s three different timelines in the same house and the events that happen in all three timelines somehow come together.

Malice by John Gwynne

Malice by John GwynneThis is one that I talked about in my 10 Books I HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Bookshelf post, and so many people commented telling me that they either loved it or also wanted to read it, so I figured that I should pick it up sooner rather than later. I only got a few pages in (44 to be exact) before my copy of The Lies of Locke Lamora came in and I put this one down temporarily to read that one. What I read intrigued me though and I want to ocntinue reading this book in September!

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

This was one of the books I was most excited for that was released in August, and I’m so excited to finally have it in my hands to read! There’s just something about books about two people who are thrown together into a marriage where one needs to hide their true identity. With a witch forced to marry a witch hunter when their two people are at war, what better book to read in September to get me into a fall mood?

There Will Come A Darkness by Katy Rose Pool

There Will Come A Darkness by Katy Rose Pool

Another August release, this is one that I actually wasn’t going to pick up right away, but then Madison Mary from Princess of Paperbacks was raving about this book. After she was talking about The Merciful Crow and how much she loved it, I figured that if she loved this book that much, I would too! In this book there are five people who may be part of a final prophecy and one of them will end up either saving or destroying the world. I’m a sucker for prophecies and things like that, so this sounds like it’ll be right up my alley!

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet by Marissa MeyerThis will be my audiobook for September. I listened to Cinder before and I really enjoyed reading it that way! I wanted to continue with the series and figured the audiobooks would be a good way to go with the rest of the series. I know that this book follows Scarlet instead of Cinder, but I don’t know if the characters come together or if it’s just a series of companion novels. I guess I’ll find out soon enough!

Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray

I don’t know if I’m actually going to be able to get to this one this month because it’s fairly long and I have a few other larger books on my TBR, but I have a good friend who is already on the third book and I really need to catch up so we can talk about it! The Diviners was such a great read and was actually a lot more creepy than I was anticipating, so what better time to read book two than in the fall??

  2. I might have to check out the Lunar Chronicles on audiobook! I like the series enough to want to know what happens next, but I always get distracted by other books, so maybe audiobooks are the answer!

    • Thank you! I seem to be in a bit of a reading slump right now so I don’t think I’ll be able to finish all these books, but what I’ve read I’m loving so far!

  6. The Lies of Locke Lamora is SO good! I hope you continue to enjoy it (I’m still working up the courage to read the third book, because the second book WRECKED me). If you like heist novels, may I recommend The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn by Tyler Whitesides? It’s a fantastic, underrated fantasy! I also definitely still need to read Malice…I hope you enjoy it!
