At the end of 2018, I made 6 goals for 2019. Today, I want to reflect back on those goals and see if I managed to complete any of them! I haven’t looked back at these goals at all this year, so this will be interesting.
I can say with great certainty that I did NOT complete this goal. I’ve started far more series than what I’ve completed, and the one series that I actually did complete was actually the Monsters of Verity duology, which I started this year. I’ve definitely made progress on some series, and I’m hoping that I can finish at least two more series before the end of the year but I’m not completely confident that I will remember to complete that goal. The specific series that I mentioned in my original goals were: TMI, TDA, TID, Strange the Dreamer, Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne, The Witcher, and The Chaos Queen series. of those, I’ve only finished the first short story collection of The Witcher and I go halfway through the first book of The Chaos Queen series. I haven’t made any progress at all with any of Cassandra Clare’s books.
At least I’ve finished one of my goals! As of the day I’m writing this, I’ve finished 61 books so I’ve definitely passed my goal of 50 books! It makes sense however since last year I finished 76 books. The reason I lowered it is because I didn’t want to stress myself out with trying to reach that goal, and I also wanted to be able to focus more on reading the longer books that take more time to read. Whether or not I had been able to read bigger books remains to be seen, closer to the end of the year I’ll take a look at my reading stats for 2019!
The reason I had made this a goal was because at the time, I had just gotten Finley and didn’t have the time to blog as much! He doesn’t need as much care now as he did when he was a few months old, so I’m able to do more reading and blogging now. I’ve done a fairly good job of sticking to my Monday-Wednesday-Friday posting schedule, except for October because I just didn’t have the will to actually sit down and write blog posts. I would consider this a completed goal, because I’ve definitely done a good job of this!
My goal was to limit myself to new releases that I was truly interested in and continuations of series that I’ve already started, and I completely failed. Do they have a version of Alcoholics Anonymous for book buying problems? Because I think I need to be a member. This will probably be another goal for 2020, hopefully I’ll actually be able to curb my buying habits because I need to actually be an adult and save money.
I think I’ve done a pretty good job of reviewing more, although I’m definitely still behind on my reviews! I’ve recently redone my review page so it’s easier to find all the reviews I’ve done, so when you’re done reading this post, check that out!
This hasn’t been going very well. I’ve pulled even more books off my shelves but I haven’t taken them to my local library yet. It’s definitely something on my to do list, but I have no idea when I’ll be able to do that!
Here’s hoping my 2020 reading goals go a little bit better than my 2019 goals! If you haven’t checked out my new goals, please do!
