Book Reviews and Recommendations
Hi everyone! I can’t believe that it’s already August! Time flies when you can’t go anywhere outside I guess. The upside is that we’re one month closer to fall which is my absolute favorite time of year! I’ve also started planning out my Blogtober posts instead of just flying by the seat of my pants this year, so I’m feeling really on the ball. Also, I have PLENTY of time to spend working on those posts since, again, nothing else to do.
Anyway, I have no real plans for what I want to read in August, but I do have a few books that are ARCs from the past that I would like to finally read, and I want to start finishing some of the books that I’ve started and put down over time but that will really be dependent on my mood. I also want to point out that I’ve already read 3 books in August in 3 days, so I’m doing really well so far even if I haven’t finished this TBR post yet!
Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert – This is one of the books that I’ve actually finished before I posted this TBR because I’m trash and can’t get any posts up in a timely manner. I read Get A Life, Chloe Brown and it was so good that I immediately bought the second book and I flew through it! I’m really excited for Eve’s book now.
The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones – I’ve had this on my shelf for a while and it’s one of my thinner books (since I seem to be reading a TON this month so far). I also want to start reading some ~spooky~ books to prepare for my blogtober posts this year, and the dead coming to life definitely fits that description!
Sightwitch by Susan Dennard – I’ve had the ARC of this novella for well over a year at this point because when I discovered Netgalley I was requesting some of the ‘read now’ titles. The reason I didn’t get to it is because at the time, I didn’t have a kindle and reading on my phone was torture so I never read it! Then I got a kindle and started requesting way more books than I can possibly get to in a decent amount of time, so I’m trying now to catch up with all my old ARCs.
The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy – Speaking of reading old ARCs, this is another one that I want to finally read. I got this one through a Goodreads giveaway, so at least it isn’t affecting my Netgalley percentage! I’m 99.9% sure that this one is a fantasy romance, and I seem to be reading a lot more romance right now than fantasy so why not try to combine the two?
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim – Yet another old ARC from Netgalley. Yes, I realize that the second book is out already but like I said, I requested like crazy when I didn’t even have a reliable way to read these books and then never went back to read them. I don’t want to NOT read this, so I need to get it done sooner rather than later!
I have heard nothing but good things about The Brown Sisters series and I wanna read those books. Spin the dawn has been on my TBR for a long time, someone make me read it.
