October 2020 TBR

Hi everyone! Today for #blogtober I’m going to be talking about some of the books that I want to read this October! I probably won’t get through as many books this month as I usually do just because I’m planning on blogging a LOT more this month, but I’m still going to do my best to get to all of these books!

Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin – I loved reading Serpent and Dove, so I’m really excited to see where this story goes and how the world is expanded in this second book! I’m also expecting some steamy romance, and I think it’s going to be a good read. Plus, it’s the perfect month to read about witches!

Horrid by Katrina Leno – This one just arrived at my door and I just know that I need to read it this month. It sounds like it’s going to be creepy and spooky, and I’m hoping is a perfect haunted house kind of story. The early reviews of this one have been overwhelmingly positive, so I have high expectations for this one!

Secrets in the Cellar by John Glatt – This is one that I found through a google search for creepy books to read in the fall, and then it was on sale on Kindle so I figured I would give it a go! This is a little different than everything else on this list because it’s actually non-fiction about a family in Austria whose daughter went missing, but then her children start to show up on their doorstep. Turns out, the father knows exactly where his daughter has gone…his basement dungeon.

The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson – I’m sure this one has shown up on a monthly TBR before, but I’ve only gotten 11% through the e-book and I really want to finish it because witches are perfect for this time of year! Plus I’ve heard this is pretty creepy, and I actually need to read it for another blog post that I’m working on.

The Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow – I have this as an ARC, and it was also on my September TBR but I didn’t get a chance to finish it. Set in 1983, this follows three sisters who join the suffragists of New Salem and start to delve into witchcraft. The final sentence of the synopsis just really hooked me: “There’s no such things as witches. But there will be”. Sounds perfect for fall!

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – Everyone has created so much hype around this book and I definitely want to read it and support the author! I just need to decide if I want to get the e-book or a physical copy. It’s got a trans main character, a ghost love interest, a gay romance, a FULL latinx cast, and it’s OwnVoices! It sounds amazing and it will be perfect to read around Dia De Los Muertos as I’m pretty sure this book takes place around the holiday (although I don’t know if I can wait that long to read it!)
