January 2021 TBR

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my first 2021 monthly TBR! If you haven’t seen any of my previous TBRs, let me explain something. I’m 100% a mood reader, so for me a TBR is more of a wish list kind of TBR. I put around 6 books on my monthly TBR that at the moment I feel like I will want to read in the coming month, however I don’t hold myself to that TBR. More recently, this list has included the ARCs that I have to read for the following month. January is going to be full of ARCs, so let’s get into it!

The Black Coast by Mike Brooks – The minute I read this synopsis I knew that I wanted to read this book, and I ended up getting approved for an e-ARC copy through Netgalley. This is a fantasy debut full of dragons, knights, pirates, and magic! I’m really excited to see these war dragons in action and see what all these battle scenes are like, it’s been a while since I’ve read a book with dragons and this one makes me really excited. This one releases February 18th!

Of Wicked Blood by Olivia Wildenstein & Katie Hayoz – If you’ve been to my blog before, you know that I enjoy a good fantasy romance. This is one that I’ve seen quite frequently on bookstagram, and I was interested enough to request an e-ARC copy. This one follows a boy who steals a cursed artifact and the witch whose family he stole it from. Of course, as this is a fantasy romance I’m expecting a swoon-worthy romance! This one comes out on February 2nd.

Kulti by Mariana Zapata – I recently read (and loved) From Lukov With Love by this same author. I’ve seen a few different reviews that say that this is one of her best books, so I’m definitely excited to see what I think! I’ve also been in a reading slump, and the only thing I seem to be able to finish is romance, so I figured I should probably put a romance book on my TBR. This one is a soccer romance, which I’ve never read before but I’m willing to give it a shot!

The Girl from Shadow Springs by Ellie Cypher – I haven’t seen ANYONE talk about this book, but it sounds so interesting! The blurb says it’s The Revnant meets True Grit, which sounds so interesting to me. I also got an e-ARC for this one, and it follows a girl who scavenges in the dangerous frozen wastes and ends up taking something from the wrong person. Someone then kidnaps her sister in exchange for what he believes that she took, only she doesn’t have it. She ends up having to turn to a relative of the man she stole from for help. It sounds perfect for reading in the winter, and it releases on February 9th!

Of Silver and Shadow by Jennifer Gruenke – This is one of the books that had it’s release date pushed back because of COVID, and I still have an e-ARC of it that I would like to finish before it’s release on February 16th. This follows a girl who has magic that’s been banned from the kingdom who has been asked to join a revolution to overthrow the King. It also follows the the youngest prince and a warrior for the king who wants to track down the rebellion to get promoted. I read a bit of it before it was pushed back, and it’s been an interesting read so far!

Ashlords by Scott Reintgen – Red Rising meets The Scorpio Races but with phoenix horses. I’ve been wanting to read this book since it was released early 2020, and I’ve been approved for an e-ARC of the second book which releases in February so I really need to read this one soon so I can continue the series! For a former horse obsessed girl, phoenix horses sound incredibly interesting and I’m excited to see how this is implemented!
