ABC Book Challenge |F|

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a new entry in this tag, so I figured it’s about time that I do the next letter! The last time I did this was back in November, so this has been long overdue. If you’ve never seen this challenge before, it involves finding books that were memorable that start with a certain letter as well as books on your TBR that start with that letter. Each book will have a link to their Goodreads page so you can get more information on the books!

Memorable books that start with “F”

Final Girls by Riley Sager – This was one of the first books I read from my Book of the Month subscription, and I was really impressed! I don’t often read thriller/mysteries but when I do I usually enjoy them, and this one was no different. It felt a little like Final Destination since there are these three girls that survive mass murders and then suddenly things start happening to them too.

Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett – I read this one earlier this year and fell in love with this magic system! I loved how it was based in technology even though I was really skeptical at first. This book also made me realize that I love books that have talking objects and that is something that I look for now in books!

Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies – This one made my list for nostalgia. I used to read and reread this book all the time as a kid and I loved the idea of these deer trying to save their world. At the time I read this, I wasn’t really familiar with Watership Down but now that I’m older I see that it’s basically Watership Down but with deer instead of rabbits. Still holds a special place in my heart though!

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson – And of course I can’t forget to mention one of my favorite authors ever! I love everything that Sanderson writes, and although I still need to continue with the series, I loved this first book. The idea of ingesting metals to fuel magical powers is something that I’ve never seen before in a fantasy and I loved learning more about this world and the magic system!

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis – I have a full review on why I loved and hated this book. I loved it because it’s something that needed to be talked about and discussed, but I hated it for the same reasons. I loved how it challenged ideas like “boys will be boys”, but I think it was a really powerful read and everyone needs to read this book.

TBR books that start with “F”

Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin – I love anything that has to do with Game of Thrones, so when I saw that there was a history of the Targaryens coming out I was super excited! I have so many answers that I think this book will answer, and while it’s written like a history book (which means at points it can be pretty dry) it’s still intriguing and I’m slowly working my way through it.

The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin – I really really REALLY want to read anything from this author, but this series in particular because each book in the series has won the Hugo award. I don’t normally follow awards, but this was such a big deal in the book community that I just need to see what all the fuss is about!

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte – I got this one in my March Owlcrate and a mystery set in a fantasy world sounds like something I would enjoy. Plus I like how this world is split into different sections ruled by different queens, but it’s all part of the same Queendom. I’ve only gotten a few pages into this one but it’s definitely something that intrigues me.

Fools Gold (The Dragon Lords) by Jon Hollins – I am a HUGE fan of the more sarcastic, funny fantasy novels, and I’ve heard that this one fits that bill. I have the first two books sitting on my shelves but I have yet to pick them up. I don’t know why I do this to myself! Either way, I cannot wait to finally read this and see if it’s as funny as I think it will be. It’s about a world ruled by dragons as well, and anything with dragons is good in my book!

Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake – This is the conclusion to the Three Dark Crowns series and I don’t know if I’m ready to see what happens to my precious queens. For YA, this series is pretty dark and twisted, and I loved the concept of three sisters that need to kill each other to see who will be the one and only queen. If you’ve read the series, who is your favorite queen? Mine is Arsinoe!

This letter was surprisingly easy to find books for, but G may not be so easy the next time I do the next entry in this series. What are some of your favorite books that start with F? Anything that I just have to read?
